Launch of the DELYNN INTELLIGENT flaskless open molding line with a horizontal mold parting plane at VKM-Steel LLC for the production of medium and small-size wagon castings

VKM-Steel LLC (Saransk, Republic of Mordovia) is a modern, high-tech metallurgical complex and Russia’s largest manufacturer of foundry products for the railway industry, as well as the automotive, oil and gas, and special engineering industries.

In September 2025, the DELYNN INTELLIGENT automatic flaskless open molding line with a horizontal mold parting plane using the sand-clay process was launched in the new VKM-Steel production building for the production of medium and small railcar castings.

The equipment includes:

1. An automatic two-position molding machine with a 650×750 mm mold opening, allowing for the molding of up to 150 molds per hour without losing time on core installation;
2. A pouring and cooling line, an automatic pouring machine;
3. A sand plant with a capacity of 60 tons per hour.

Main characteristics of the line:

• Mold size: 650*750*200-300/200-300 mm;
• Mold compaction method: combined pressing;
• Productivity: up to 150 molds/hour;
• Filling of molds is carried out by an automatic pouring machine model DLAP-QZ-1000 with unheated ladles;
• Sand plant with a capacity of 60 tons/hour;
• The delivery includes hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems, a shake-out grid, a jacket and iron plate conversation device, trolleys, jackets and iron pressing plates.

The introduction of such a line became part of the project to create a precision casting workshop.

Thanks to this solution, the company was able to:

• expand the range of produced castings;
• increase production volume;
• reduce costs (eliminate the cost of manufacturing and replacing metal flasks that are subject to wear);
• improve the quality of castings (fewer defects, higher level of detail).
